Blanchardstown & Finglas Ford are driving an initiative to raise €125,000 for community groups and in the process acknowledge some of the "unsung heroes" within our community.

St. John Ambulance have nominated "John McGrath" as its Unsung Hero. John has volunteered with St. John Ambulance for over 50 years, helping those that are sick and injured in the community. He has dedicated his time selflessly over many years to helping older people, people with disabilities and those in need of emergency first aid. Please give him your vote, each day!

If we are lucky enough to gain any money from the fund then this will go directly towards an Ambulance fund for St. John Ambulance and we also have an opportunity of winning a 15 seater mini-bus.

St John Ambulance held there National Competitions on Saturday 16th of April 2011. Divisions from all around Ireland attended and took part. Drogheda Division had its first ever team entered, and the team consisted of Ciara O Donnell, Sean Lambe and Angela Haggins. The team entered the Novice cup, where they had 2 patients. The first had a suspected spinal injury which had to be immobilised and the 2nd was electrocuted which resulted in performing CPR and using an AED. The team did extreamly well.

The Novice Cup was won by Cork Division, 2nd place Drogheda Division, 3rd Foxrock Division.

The Iveagh Cup was won by Castleknock Division.

It was a great day, and great to see so many teams entered.

Well done to all the other Teams who competed.

On Thursday 17th March 2011. Drogheda Division provided our Medical Services to the St Patricks Day Committie. We provided 26 personal at various locations throughtout the town. Our New bike division, Dunshaughlins Bike Division and our 2 Divisional Ambulance were made available. Thankfully the day went well, and the weather was great.

Thanks to all our Volunteers and to Dunshaughlin Division who helped out.

We are delighted to have assisted at the parade, and we look forward to next years.    

Well done to our Divisional Members Martin O Connor, Naomi O Dowd, Edel Murtagh, Adrian Cooney and Colin Maher who completed there Demonstators Course. The Assesers were very happy with the standard. Also well done to our fellow Members in other Divisions who have also done well.
